Philip announces will not stand as Independent Candidate

28th January, 2019

As the President of the Lions Club of Whitford, and previously the WA State Director of the Australian Lions Drug Awareness Foundation ("ALDAF") amongst other Board and Charitable roles, Philip was approached by the community and asked to consider nominating as a candidate at our next federal election.

This was further reinforced by our 28th Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon. Tony Abbott MP who was initially responsible for encouraging Philip to not only consider Public Office, but also requested Philip to renounce his British Citizenship (as he did) to avoid any Section 44 constitutional issues in the event Philip proceeded with a nomination.

Philip, Terri and their family have decided that Philip will not be nominating as an Independent candidate at the upcoming federal election. They would like to thank all of their supporters, partners, businesses, associations, community groups, friends, family and the public for their valued support and assistance to date.
