Tonight, Philip again met with our 28th Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon. Tony Abbott MP. Philip provided an overview on the Lions Club of Whitford, our activities and our various community and service initiatives including the Lions Day at the United Nations in New York to be held in March.
Tony was the person initially responsible for encouraging Philip to consider Public Office, and in asking Philip to renounce his British Citizenship (as he did) to avoid any Section 44 Constitutional Issues. Philip was able to confirm that his British Citizenship had now been renounced (albeit it took 9 1/2 months to do).
Similarly, late last year Philip also met with our 27th Prime Minister of Australia The Hon. Julia Gillard AC and provided Julia an overview on the Lions Club of Whitford, our activities and in particular our various community and service initiatives. Philip was also able to discuss with Julia (in her capacity as Chairman of Beyond Blue) the support requests the Lions Club of Whitford and Philip receives from the community.
Its an exciting time for the Lions Club of Whitford, and our club and its members look forward to releasing some of our new initiatives very shortly.
At Lions We Serve is our moto, and it's our pleasure to continue to serve our local community, including within the Cities of Joondalup and Wanneroo.
Philip would once again like to thank Tony for his guidance and support. Both the Lions Club of Whitford, Philip as its President, and our club members very much appreciate, value and respect that support.
