Philip and Terri are pleased to announce that the Western Australian Electoral Commission has today accepted Philip's nomination as a Councillor in this year's City of Wanneroo local elections.
As an official candidate, there's much work to do between now and polling day on the 21 October 2017. Whilst this is Philip's very first election of this type, of significant note to the family is that this election is also their sons very first election, in that Joshua is now 18 years of age and his father will be on the ballot paper.
Philip and Terri firstly would like to thank Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard for assisting them in Philip's campaign and the attached flyer. Philip and Terri would also like to thank the community for your support, comments, concerns and questions which underpins why Philip seeks your trust to represent you on council.
This year there's a choice as eight (8) candidates have nominated for two councillor positions in the South Ward. As the President of a local Lions Club who's very active in our community across both the cities of Wanneroo and Joondalup, Philip sees firsthand how our community is struggling to manage their everyday lives, their families, their children and their finances.
Life is challenging, and council also has a job to do to support its residents, and the times not when an election is called. Philip's also received complaints from the business community regarding the councils tendering program and it's $83.2m Capital Works Budget this year, and as the former Head of Procurement for Verve Energy, the Government of Western Australia's Electricity Generator and an expert in Contracts, Procurement and Operations, Philip wishes to unlock savings on behalf of the City, and therefore all ratepayers.
Philips principals are:
I WILL - Advocate for an increased police presence, more CCTV and tougher penalties to eradicate hooning and anti-social behavior in our suburbs.
I WILL - Be a champion for our youth and continue to work with our local schools and community groups to provide necessary support and guidance for our youth, and youth activities.
I WILL - Provide appropriate infrastructure, activities and support services to enable mature age people to "Age In Place" enabling them to live locally in their retirement years.
I WILL - Work to improve facilities by providing necessary infrastructure and support to local sporting clubs and community groups.
I WILL - Advocate for increased expenditure to upgrade ageing infrastructure in the South Ward.
I WILL - Ensure sound financial management of ratepayer's money to ensure Council lives within its means, and keeps rates low.
I WILL - Listen to the concerns of the local community, be your voice and represent your interests on council.
I WILL - Encourage local investment and local employment, thereby ensuring the communities needs are always considered first.
I WILL - Support local community groups and sporting clubs through increased grants and access to programs to help them grow and prosper.
Thank you for considering Philip as your candidate, and please do not hesitate to contact either Philip or Terri if they can be of any further assistance to you.
