Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from the Couper's

23rd December, 2018

As 2018 comes to a close, Philip and Terri along with their family would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. They sincerely hope your family and yourselves have a safe and festive holiday period and that 2019 brings happiness, peace and prosperity to all.

2018 was again another very busy year for the Couper family, and Philip and Terri would like to take the opportunity to thank volunteers, and those that support the many charities, community, sporting and volunteer groups that not only Philip and Terri are involved in personally, but right across Australia. Without your help, Australia and those depending on these services would be worse off and Philip, Terri and their family sincerely thank you.

This year there's been an increase in suicide, mental health related issues and the lack of mental health services, alcohol and/ or drugs, cyber-safety and cyber-bullying amongst others, particularly with our veterans and their families, parents (because of family law and child support related issues), individuals and within the community generally.

During the last three weeks Philip, Terri, their family and their fellow Lions Club of Whitford members spent time in the community at Lakeside Joondalup and Westfield Whitford City Shopping Centres either selling Lions Christmas cakes, undertaking Christmas wrapping, providing hampers/ presents/ toys and/ or gift cards to our community and those in need. What they observed and had reported to them was there's a lot of stress & concern within the community and more needs to be done.

Should you be at risk and/ or need help during these holidays, support is available via Kids Helpline on 1800 551 800, Lifeline on 13 11 44 or Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636.

Alternatively please see our Lions Tune In Not Out ("TINO") website which is at https://tuneinnotout.com/. TINO is a project of the Australian Lions Drug Awareness Foundation (ALDAF) which is part of Lions Australia and is our one stop shop for information on a wide range of topics for navigating life's challenges, being mental health, relationships, exam stress to sexual health and more.

Philip, Terri, Joshua, Brooke and Mia look forward to serving their community, and our many organisations, volunteer and sporting groups in 2019.

Merry Christmas.
