Tonight (Friday 10 November 2017) Terri and I had the pleasure of again meeting with the Telethon Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre, its Chairman Jeff Newman OAM, its CEO Bec Johnson, and to being able to see firsthand the great work it's doing to support the West Australian Diabetic community.
As very proud personal supporters with a long commitment to helping diabetic initiatives, Philip and Terri had the pleasure of hearing from the team, Jeff and Bec and was pleased to learn more about the centre, their plans to expand their programs and services across Western Australia, and the great work they are doing in supporting our Diabetic's and their families, particularly those newly diagnosed with diabetes.
Having recently returned from the United Nations in Geneva, Philip heard the Director General Of United Nations Office of Geneva, Mr Michael Moller declare that sugar is now more dangerous than guns. Diabetes is becoming such an epidemic that urgent action is now required to address diabetes in our community, especially the major health implications diabetics can suffer when diabetes is either undiagnosed, untreated or unmanaged.
Philip and Terri sincerely hope that with the assistance of governments, private industry, philopatry, charities and humanitarian and service organisations that a cure for diabetes will be eventually found, and the damage and complications that are caused by diabetes will be no more.
Philip and Terri are so pleased to be involved with the Telethon Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre, its fantastic staff, its board and its CEO and wish to congratulate the centre on the great work its done this year. They look forward to what's on the agenda next year, and wish to personally thank everyone who is involved in and supports the centre in its initiatives.
