Australian (7) murdered in Barcelona terrorist attack

20th August, 2017

With the very sad and tragic news that another Australian, this time 7-year-old Julian Cadman was killed in the Barcelona Terrorist Attack, and his mother Jom Cadman hospitalised suffering serious injuries (Julian and Jom became separated during the attack), this is yet another example of senseless religious extremism, and my heart breaks not only for the Cadman's but all the victims, their families and friends.

On behalf of my family and I, we extend our sincerest sympathies to Julian, Andrew and Jom, and all other victims, their families and friends during this most difficult of times.

To the minority that demonstrate an extreme religious ideology, one that is inconsistent with our values and way of life, know that neither I, Australia, my fellow Australians or indeed the world community will continue to stand for this behaviour, and know that your days are numbered.

It's currently a time to grieve, but one thing I am sure is that the Spanish authorities and their international allies (and their associated security services) including the UK, European, USA and Australian authorities are already onto you.

Julian, your life was too short, was taken too soon and you are sadly missed by all those that knew and loved you. You will forever be in your fellow Australian's hearts, and will NEVER be forgotten, and this is my promise to your family and you. RIP our beautiful little man.
