With the recent closure of Australia's car industry, and the loss of many Australian jobs, it's now been reported that Toyota's locally-made V6 sedan, previously called the Aurion and advertised for $29,990 drive-away, will now start from $40,000 drive-away resulting in a $10,000 increase to Australian buyers.

For the first time Australians can now put a price on the closure of our local car manufacturing industry and what a disgrace this has become. With little thought for our future, decisions were made to end support to car manufacturers, and therefore put at risk many Australian jobs employed in the industry, including generations of families ie grand parents, parents, and children. Not only did this affect car manufacturers themselves, but also associated industries that support car manufacturing.
Therefore, and on behalf of my fellow Australians, thank you to all those involved in these decisions as your actions have directly brought about the closure of the industry, the loss of many Australian jobs and in turn resulted in a price increase to purchase the car that was previously made in Australia, and at a much reduced price.
If this is an example of globalisation and looking after Australia's national interest and the Australian economy, then I, like my fellow Australians have every right to be concerned and most importantly have every right to question and challenge those policies that clearly are not in Australia's national interest.
Its time for change Australia - and together we can do it.
