Royal Commission into Child Abuse Releases Final Report

15th December, 2017

After almost five years, 57 public hearings, more than 8,000 people having shared their experience of child sexual abuse with a Commissioner in a private session, a further 1,300+ in writing, more than 2,500 allegations reported to police with 230 prosecutions already under way, 44 reports produced for the government and the Final Report now handed to the Governor-General, the Royal Commissions work has now come to an end.

What was uncovered was horrific and must never be allowed to be repeated. Our children are our future and must be protected.

Thank you Commissioners on a job well done. Your country and I very much appreciates the dedication you have shown in uncovering the truth in sometimes very graphic and disturbing circumstances.

Your professionalism, manner and way you went about your tasks were an example of why we have Royal Commissions, and it's now time to implement your recommendations to ensure our children are protected, and never see or go through the horror of abuse ever again.
